Oh my, Michael. You really nailed it! The contrast of the event and the reality of so much waste, really hit home!

( FYI— I loved this little detail “her graduated diamond necklace twinkling beneath the spotlight.”).

Another winner!

You're too generous! But thank you for your encouraging words. I was shocked to learn that these types of galas really do exist, and I was always fascinated that attendees are able to overlook the hypocrisy. But then again...it's all for charity!

Yes. Yes. Yes. So spot on! It also reminds me of a dinner I attended recently too where the food just kept coming! Well done!

Did you at least have the opportunity to take the leftovers home?

This is blowing my mind right now! I woke up randomly at like 2:30am and a poem came to me with the same theme. You should check it out:

I really dig the irony and juxtaposition of this piece. Also, do you know about the TooGoodToGo app. It's focused on reducing food waste and gives you extremely discounted pricing.

Love that app! I use it all the time haha. I wind up eating a lot of extra pastries, though. And I enjoyed the poem. Food waste is a huge problem. That's why it's hard to eat out; they serve such ridiculous portions nowadays. But I have no problem taking home leftovers...one of life's greatest pleasures IMO. Wish I had some now...
